Development of the NUTMON methodology as a decision support tool for farming systems improvement

Objectives
The objective of this project was to develop the Nutrient Monitoring methodology into a tool that could be used for analysing farming systems by research institutes, ngo's, extension departments, companies and farmer field schools. Based on this integrated analysis, organisations and farmers could plan and test interventions to improve farm management.

Duration
1995 - 1999

Research areas
The methodology and software development and testing took place in:
  • the Netherlands
  • Kenya (in the districts Embu, Kisii, Kakamega, Machakos and Nyeri)
  • Uganda (in the districts Pallisa and Kabarole)
